September is recognized as National Recovery Month. Avenue 360 celebrates the recovery of our clients, families, and community. Recovery is a process of change in which individuals improve their health and wellness, lead self-directed lives, and strive to reach their full potential. Avenue 360 is dedicated to enhancing the recovery of our community members through home, health, purpose, and community. The slogan for National Recovery Month this year is “Recovery is for everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community.”

Covid-19 has affected the mental, emotional, and physical health of many members of our vibrant Houston community. While rates of substance use and overdose deaths increased in 2020, the community has also displayed inspiring resilience. Avenue 360 continues to provide services throughout the covid-19 pandemic, including telehealth counseling groups to make services more accessible.

“Avenue 360’s health care model ensures that our patients have a safe, confidential space to receive clinical recovery support,” said Sondra Smith, Avenue 360’s Recovery Support Counselor.  “We are committed to strengthening the recovery of our clients during every step of their process.  I am thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of the recovery community in Houston.”

The National Rally for Recovery will be held in Houston this year at the George R. Brown Convention Center on September 18.  This socially distanced, outdoor event will feature messages from local officials and prominent members of the recovery community and include music, art, and activities.

This month and every month, Avenue 360 is committed to provide services to members of our community who are engaged in this transformative process of change.
