There are few things more rewarding than serving as a first responder in the wake of a disaster. In reality, this work comes with its own challenges as first responders often witness human suffering and risk their lives to protect others—many we saw during the aftermath of Harvey. It is critical for responders to manage their stress levels, to stay well and to maintain clear thinking.
