Avenue 360 Health and Wellness, a health system of 10 sites in Houston, has temporarily closed its Spring clinic out of an abundance of caution. The clinic is set to re-open early next week.

The system’s CEO and infectious disease physician, Dr. Charlene Flash, sent the following note to clinical and administrative staff late Monday.

We learned today that a family member of an Avenue 360 employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee lives with the family member, but the employee is not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. The employee has been tested for coronavirus and is now self-monitoring at home.

In the past two weeks, the employee worked out of Avenue 360’s Spring location. Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily closed this location as part of our strict precautionary protocols. The workforce there of eight is self-monitoring for symptoms. The health and safety of our staff and patients is the highest priority.

Avenue 360 shares a health care partnership with an external agency in Houston, which was the employee’s regular job site. We immediately notified them of our employee’s self-monitoring and her family situation.

While there remain details we don’t yet know, our goal is to be as transparent and timely with information as possible, while still maintaining high standards of patient privacy.

Avenue 360’s five other primary and behavioral health care clinics in Houston remain open.

The health system is urging any patient who might be experiencing coronavirus symptoms (fever, coughing, shortness of breath) or who may have been exposed to the virus to call ahead prior to their appointment. “Stay-in-your car” testing is being conducted at two sites this week:

  • The Heights — 2150 West 18th St. Suite 300 | phone: 713-426-0027
  • Southwest Houston — 14095 S. Main Street | phone: 832-830-8345

Upon arrival, patients are asked to remain in their cars and call the number of their clinic above.
