Avenue 360 Health & Wellness Welcomes Dr. Charlene Flash as Incoming President and CEO

HOUSTON – Avenue 360 Health & Wellness (Avenue 360) today announces the appointment of Dr. Charlene Flash as President and CEO. Dr. Flash brings her experience as an executive leader, physician, educator, and researcher to her new role at the helm of Avenue 360’s network of health and health equity locations across the Greater Houston area.

“Dr. Flash is a strong and compassionate leader for the next stage of our journey,” said Dr. Luis R. Torres, Avenue 360’s Board Chairperson. “She has passion and commitment for delivering high-quality, evidence-based healthcare and for ending health inequities. The Board believes her deep commitment to the communities we serve will help fuel her vision and strategic leadership for our future.”

Dr. Flash speaks nationally on infectious disease and health disparities and has led HIV/AIDS prevention programs for marginalized communities. Her approach to healthcare transcends a disease treatment model and examines how people can achieve wellness and whole, healthy lives.

“I am excited to lead the Avenue 360 team as together, we deliver health care and build health equity,” said Flash, who begins her new role January 2020. “I believe our charge is to positively impact community health by the care and services we provide and through fostering partnerships across a spectrum of services. At Avenue 360, patients and clients will encounter excellence as they experience high quality care, feel trust, and know we’re a partner in wellness, as we empower them to participate in their own health care solutions.”

Most recently Associate Chief Medical Officer at Legacy Community Health, Dr. Charlene Flash also holds a clinical faculty position as an assistant professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Flash previously developed and led Harris Health’s HIV Prevention Program, touching many lives throughout Southeast Texas. She graduated from Yale University and earned her medical degree and Master of Public Health from Rutgers University.

Avenue 360 Health & Wellness is a not-for-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing a full range of services to promote a 360-degree approach to healthcare.
