April is\u00a0National Minority Health Month, a time to raise awareness about health disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minority groups. The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted the African American and Latino communities \u2013 making up 62%<\/a> of the positive cases in Harris County.<\/p>\n Vaccines have shown to be safe and effective at helping protect people from getting the virus. In Harris County, only 16%<\/a> of African Americans and 29%<\/a> of Hispanics have received their vaccines.
