A new study by the Episcopal Health Foundation finds that more than a third of Texans\u00a0say they or someone in their household have gone without medical care during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0More than 90%\u00a0said they skipped preventive care like checkups and mammograms.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand the concerns COVID has brought,\u201d said Charlene Flash, an infectious disease physician and CEO of Avenue 360. \u201cBut what\u2019s more concerning over the long run is that patients are going without or delaying care. The risk to some is higher the longer they go without care. I don\u2019t want Houston to wake up after the pandemic is over with more severe illnesses from\u00a0unmanaged\u00a0chronic disease, poor child health, and untreated depression.\u201d<\/p>\n
Avenue 360 continues to take measures to keep patients safe, including social distancing inside our clinics, temperature screenings, and masks for staff and patients.<\/p>\n
